Why are people here quick to defend the 'rights' of the banking companies?

Yes it does, but the naivety of thousands here who respond to those type of posts believing them is astonishing.

I find it satisfying to politely reply to a troll as if I believe them. If I'm wrong and they aren't a troll but instead have a really disordered life then I'm still helping.

Any trolls hoping to get a pay off by seeing me rant at them are also disappointed, win-win.

I am certainly not pro-bank & have made complaints that have sometimes been successful and other times unsuccessful, if someone comes here asking for advice and I wouldn't bother trying to complain based on my previous experience then that will be the advice I'd give.

If a bank hasn't done anything wrong, then a complaint is kinda hard to win. You can try to be nice and hope they are sympathetic and wave charges etc but if they resist then it's a waste of everyones time to pretend you can build a case out of air.

If you're in hospital and rack up bank charges because you don't have enough money in the account to pay DD etc, then I don't see what the bank did wrong. I wonder how the bank is supposed to know you're in a coma and therefore be kind to you and keep paying DD even though you are going further and further in debt, compared to someone who just doesn't pay their bills.

Or are you saying they should just keep paying out just in case there is a "good" reason, even though in 99.99999% of cases there isn't one.

I'd forgotten about that one, what a belter! "False imprisonment", "unlawful detention", 'deprivation of liberty', the works....

Interesting to note that the two people who clicked thanks on the posts from the prisoner in that thread, are our very own OP and Mr Smith from this thread.

Could this be an indication that they are actually paid operatives of a giant anti-banking conspiracy, funded by Bitcoin hypers, intent on overthrowing the world financial system? ... Nah, probably not.
  • That thread about the bank lock in (thanks for sharing the link) is the most ludicrous thread I've ever read on here.
You haven't seen the (very short lived because it got closed) thread posted last year where someone asked if they could sue Lloyd's because they had a dream about rollercoasters......... ;)

I wonder if I could sue the RBS Group as I still occasionally get the 'Natwest piggies' advert music stuck in my head, even after 35 years?

I have no memory of that advert, but just had to google it and found it on YouTube.

It's great but I'm not sure it's quite up to the level of the dead dog in a carrier bag (House buying, renting & selling) or the subway meatballs (Consumer rights) threads from years back.

Has anyone read the "Unacceptable delays from employer regarding my request" on the "Employment, Jobseeking & Training" board?

...thought asking for 'back pay' might be an option :rotfl:
