Old Gas Fire Pipe, Cap and removal price?

Hi,
I have recently bought a house but in it there is a gas pipe that sticks out of the floor in the living room next to the fire place that I would like removed so I can lay flooring on top. I believe it was a gas pipe to an old gas fire.
It goes into a concrete floor but was wondering how I go about removing this and the price it will cost to get a plumber/gas safe engineer to do this work?

I don't think it's a good idea to be messing around with gas unless you're qualified to do so.
I'd Google local plumbers/gas safe engineers, look at their reviews, ratings, etc and then go from there. Good luck!0 -
I agree. A gas fitter will establish if the pipe is still live, isolate it, purge it, cut the pipe and cap it safely. I had something similar done when I had a pipework leak that required a new gas line around the outside of my house which rendered the existing supply to the fireplace redundant.0
