POCKIT prepaid serious problem

But still don't understand why, if you have a current account with Natwest, ... (b) why you sent the money to your son via pockit (Natwest - pockit - Son) instead of directly (Natwest - Son).I wish I’d of just paid the agent direct from NatWest but my wife wasn’t in agreement with me lending my son the money (for past reasons). But with his current situation I went round the back door0

So OP is claiming that if he had transferred the £1400 from his Natwest account to the letting agent directly his wife would have checked his account and seen the transaction at which point she presumably would have become mad at him but by transferring the £1400 from his Natwest account to pockit everything was OK because when his wife checked his account and saw the transfer of £1400 to pockit she would never have imagined that this payment could possibly be the £1400 that the son wanted but must be for something else.0

Ben, for reasons I don’t want to share on here but I will do to stop assumptions, he was formerly a drug addict and he has been clean for over a year and has got his life back together. I - as his father - have seen the change and wanted to help him. This was the way I saw best to do it.0

Also thanks to the earlier poster for the CEO email address. Sent a lengthy email this morning, copied in the rubbish help email and the CEO and magically got a reply within the hour asking for a little more information so I’m hopefully getting closer to the end of the saga. At least copying in the CEO prompted them (maybe it was just a coincidence but I doubt it).0

Johnlfc60, I don't think anyone would decry your efforts to help your son (although it isn't generally considered healthy to deceive in a relationship - no judgement being made).
What seems odd, though, as Ben8282 points out, is that £1400 has still gone from your NatWest account and you're still going to have to do some explaining to your wife when/if she asks about it - which presumably she will or your concerns about the money going would never have existed in the first place.
What might occur to your wife is that giving money to someone who was a drug addict is unsafe because they might use it to buy drugs. Now, I'm sure you are right that he won't, but it would surely have helped your position if you'd by-passed your son entirely in the transaction and given the payment straight to the agent (as you mentioned).
Hindsight, I know. I hope you get it cleared up soon.0 -
Terry, I completely agree and hindsight is a wonderful thing. I wish I’d of paid direct or gave him cash (or the agent) but he wanted to make the payment himself from his own account to show an extra bit of improvement in himself and a receipt would of been shown to me. I guess I assume he wanted to show me he could stand on his own two feet which I believe he could.
Can I thank you all for your replies and help. I’ll keep you posted on what happens. Thank you all again. I’m not super tech savvy when it comes to banking and I’ve learnt from this mistake I can assure you but hopefully we’re nearer the finishing line.

Infact the most annoying thing is my wife knows and doesn’t mind too much about it considering the circumstances and has come round to the idea. Silly me I guess.
