Extra income

Now 67 I have a life time of 'stuff', some of which I want to sell to put a small fund together to A) help survive on my state pension and housing benefit (that does not cover my private rent). and B) have enough in the bank for my funeral.
The problem I would like answered is, if someone offers me money for something (items are many years old so heaven knows what they cost) will it effect my benefits?

Savings in the bank no matter how you have accured them is still savings that have to be declared if they go over a certain amount
As you are a pensioner then the following amounts apply

So under £10000, disregarded, then over 10 to £16000 is a tariff income, over £16000 takes you off benefits

Savings that is going to be used for a funeral will still be classed as savings
The money has to be in a funeral plan to be disregarded

What other benefits do you receive?

If your pension is less than £167.25/week then you could qualify for pension Credit (subject to savings deductions as identified by tboo).
