UC natural/managed migration - SDP

I have a disabled friend who recently cancelled her plans to move location as in doing so she would have to claim Universal Credit for her Housing Benefit claim. Though she doesn't receive an SDP in here current claims or her Housing Benefit , she will still be a lot worse off by moving. I think they call this Natural Migration to UC and I believe people who are on Premiums will lose out , others too. I have heard that Managed Migration to UC , which could be coming to some people in 4 years or so , will protect these premiums etc. Sad to see that this can stop some people moving on in life.

Some claimants are better off on UC, some are worse off. The big losers are those with the SDP in their existing benefits.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.0 -
I suppose myself and others only receiving SDP in their HB award are better off , because my Income is too high via getting IIDB. Not sure how pensions etc work as I don't get any. I haven't come across anyone so far who is better off on UC , particularly Disabled people, though I've only recently needed to look at UC in my own circumstances.0

A single person claiming ESA in the Support Group (without the SDP) is better off on UC (by about £22.50/week from memory).Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.0 -
Basically anyone with an existing Award of SDP in their HB letter etc can just show that and relevant proof of ID , income etc to new local housing authority and that is enough to get HB from that date in new property ? and as I know at least 2 others who are worried in those circumstances that they maybe made to make a new claim for UC , or what they are calling the 'New ESA'0

Not sure how that is for myself , maybe because of my IIDB income that won't apply to me. Not sure if you mean getting SDP in my HB makes any difference as my income is too much to receive it in my ESA. Losing my SDP in my applicable HB amount looks like it would take off about £70 pounds or so in my HB applicable amount.0

New style ESA is completely separate from UC and is equivalent to contribution based ESA. It has no income based elements.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.0
