Questionable final bill from Avro

Hi, I'm currently moving from Avro to Simplicity because of the lower rates (particularly electric).
In the last 11 months, I've been entering meter reads every month with the exception of Nov-Dec when I was away.
So, there may be a couple of estimate readings in the Avro system, but these should have been corrected from the manual readings I entered from Jan-June where there's a full set of correct readings.
Every month, a statement was produced based on the readings and a bill produced by Avro. From Jan to present, the bill would be a small amount in debit i.e. the DDs were paying off most of the balance.
However, now that I'm leaving, and after entering my final meter reads, a final bill has been cooked up for £500.
How is this possible, even allowing for estimate figures in Nov/Dec when there's been a full 5 months of correct figures?

If you post up the final bill, we'll explain it to you.0 -
I've looked again at the statements over the last 7 months. The statements show the readings I input in that time, which I kept a record of. I also noticed an E (Est.) next to all the figures I entered except they're not estimates, they're the REAL figures.
In the final bill, there's an F (Final) to the final meter reads, which bears no relation to the correct figures I entered. It seems about 5000 KWH have been found from nowhere. This equates to the final balance of about £500 whereas according to the inputted figures it should be about zero.
I've sent all the information to Avro with pictures of my account vs the bill, and photos of my electric meter readings demonstrating the inconsistency.
Very strange.0 -
What is the opening meter reading that's being used by your new supplier - it should be the roughly the same as the one you gave them when you changed over and same as the final reading used by AVRO to produce your final bill.
If not then raise a complaint - mark it complaint and send it via recorded deliveryNever under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -
Glad you've sorted it
As long as the final read used by Avro is the start reading used by the new supplier, you've little to worry about. Infact, an over-reading compared to actual is in your favour at a time of rising prices.:money:
But if you want to dispute it, raise a disputed meter read with your new supplier0 -
I checked my new energy co. (Simplicity) and the starting read they have is the same figure which Avro used to make my final bill i.e. about 4000 KWH over what the meter actually says.0

Yesterday, I emailed Avro with photos of the reads on my meter and how their final figure contradicts what the meter says.
I then phoned my bank telling them to block any attempted withdrawals from Avro for the final bill.
Today, Avro attempted to withdraw the final bill amount without replying to my email. (This may be because they just hadn't got round to reading my email and the billing was due but it still looks suspicious.)0 -
I'd tend to go with the !!!!-up rather than conspiracy theory, but looks like you're dealing with it in the right way.0
