Potential asbestos cleaning - Artex and overboarding

Hi,
Yesterday we had our bedroom which had an artex ceiling over boaded and plastered. We spoke to a couple of people about this and they said this was a recommended approach to reduce the amount of dust and potential asbestos exposure (we have not the ceiling tested but the property was built in 1960 so chances are good) The plasterers unfortunately did create small holes in the ceiling to find the joists which I'm not particularly happy about so I'm sure this created a lot of dust. They swept this up and removed it but I'm aware that if it is asbestos it needs to be cleaned properly so for 2 hours last night we wiped the entire room with damp rags and a mop. We also used a P3 mask and overalls and disposed of all of it outside.
I'm not so concerned about that room, but I am concerned that when they went from the bedroom to the front door they walked on carpet (on the stairs and landing). They were supposed to put sheets down but they did a pretty poor job to be honest, so it left some white stains on the carpet. We weren't really sure what to do so we used an old hoover on the carpet and then put it outside (we will dispose of it carefully). I know we shouldn't have used the hoover, but I wasn't really sure what alternatives we had at the time. I'm a bit concerned now what we should do? Is there anyone with some experience dealing with this who could advise on what should we do. Should we continue cleaning or is it too late as we've walked around the house now as we have to live in it!

If you send me £1000 in used notes I'll be happy to advise you, as you obviously need help. I'd suggest testing for Novicheck too, you never can be too safe. For every complex problem there is an answer that is clear, simple and wrong.0

You are overthinking this and letting your imagination run wild. Just keep calm and use common sense. The plasterers probably cleaned up 99%+ of the dust.0

Similar to the other comments you might be overthinking and panicking although good that your aware, we had artex and grew up with it in the house and so did our kids but i think it's something like 1-4% of artex is asbestos dust although don't quote me on that.
Removing and messing with it is the danger, try to fill any gaps hoover any dust etc but if it is dormant and painted over like ours then it should not pose any threat.
If not the spiky sort some plasterers can skim over it!Enjoy everyday like it's your last!0 -
Learn to put your own dust sheets down. Not all tradespeople can be trusted in that respect, though the good ones can..
As to the drilled holes, only a fraction of that would have been artex, the rest gypsum, so whatever was on the shoes could not have been a huge amount.
As above, relax; your house is safe and probably very clean now!0
