License fee should just be abolished imo

Let the beeb stand or fall on merit rather than on tax

And stop taxing people who just want to watch sky

I would be happy to see the licence tax scrapped, altogether. The BBC offers no value over and above the miriad of other stations and media available.
Are we (the UK) the only country that has to pay for a Biased Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) ?

It's fair enough if you don't like the licence fee, but I think that TV and radio broadcasting in the UK would be worse off without the BBC.

Oh christ, you just knew that this would descend into an opportunity for BBC bashing. As it happens I don't have a licence, no TV and I don't use iplayer. I'd have to buy a radio licence if they introduced it mind. But having seen the results of TV funded by commercials in this and other countries I'd be wary of not having any counterbalance or non-common denominator programming.

Tv is in main crappy , with exceptions of course

Whether the bb c is any better or worse or more of less impartia! And balanced is of course entirely subjective

No body should be forced to fund it though it they don't want it - any more than people who don't like sky expected to subsidise those who do

If all sides say they are biased, which they always appear to, then it follows that they are not actually biased.

    Nonsense.

It cant stand or fall w/o income. It isnt allowed to sell advertising.

If you were from another country like I am, you'd know how good the BBC is in comparison.

    I am a big fan.

    Subscription then ?

If it requires folk to be forced to pay for it when they don’t want it isn’t it a flawed product any way ?

Plus it distorts the market (and inflates costs) for genuine bona fide products by competing with them for eg sports events

I could see a place in the world for a levy on subscription / commercial tv to help fund independent production but spending the license fee to outbid sky for coverage of stuff is imo ridiculous

It’s a poll tax and should be sold off.
No one complains of bias from any other Uk broadcaster.
