Msconfig question

My Windows taks manager shows two programmes to be running all the time on my Packard Bell PC
Activsurf
Netropa Hot Key
I have checked these on the Internet and it lookas though both are unnecessary - ActivSurf being little more than spyware and Netropa only serving to enable multimedia keys to work on a Packard Bell keyboard ... which I don't have.
I have tried Start>Run>Msconfig>Startup and using the Normal startup have tried to remove the above.
I think Activsurf is backweb4448364 which I have tried to untick but got a message telling me that I may need admin rights to do this - I am the administrator on this PC. I unticked the box and re-booted but when the PC Restarted it said it was in diagnostic mode.  at this stage i go into blind panic as my little knowledge ends here
Restarted and it opened up OK but when I looked backweb4448364 was ticked again.
Could not find reference to Netrops Hot Key at all in the start up list - thought it may be nhksrv.exe but could not find this either
I think these little blighters are serving to slow down my PC and would love to get shut of them so long as they are not serving any essential, or even useful, function.
Any advice????

Netropa Hot Key might be listed as MMKeybd in Msconfig. Try disabling (unticking) them/it via Msconfig - Startup tab again and restart Windows. When rebooted, tick the box in the System Configuration warning and click OK.
Also, Start - Run - services.msc and if either are in there, set startup type to Disabled and click Stop.
If they are still running in Task Manager after that, run a HijackThis scan and post the log.0 -
That worked. Thanks very muchThank you for this site :jNow OH and I are both retired, MSE is a Godsend0
