Uber without Bank Card

After having my Amazon, eBay and MS accounts hacked (PC and/or laptop) I am a little wary of mobile banking.
However I would like to use Uber and would like to use the app without presenting it with my bank details.
I understand that you can buy Uber gift vouchers (that I could buy for myself) and just make sure there is ample credit.
But does anyone know whether I could use a prepaid card to satisfy the app.
Thanks

It's important to remember that your accounts were not "hacked" this would have happened by you inadvertently giving out your passwords by some kind of phishing attempt or vulnerability on your PC.
So i hope you have changed your passwords and made sure each account has a unique password. Also if you had enabled 2FA on these accounts then they wouldn't have been able to get onto them even with your password.

There is no need to fear online banking and if you get an online banking App on your phone and don't give out your password then you won't have any issues at all.

I would recommend you open up a Starling account (which is done through an app on your phone). You can then just transfer across the amount you want to spend on that card. You also get instant notifications of any spending on the account so you can keep track.

Thanks for the advice. Why would opening another bank account be safer than my existing one. Is it that you would have only a minimal balance.
Or would Starling not treat any bogus payment as a debit card payment which banks always honour until there fraud department intervene.

Uber want to know you're good to pay for your ride. You may have £x credit, but what if your ride costs £2x? What if you throw up all over the car, and they need to charge you a cleaning fee?

That's why they need card details.

If you're paranoid about online security to the point you won't give them your card details, just stick to other minicab firms that don't need you to register card details...

It's not really any safer but i thought the instant notifications might be useful to you plus it's a good additional account to have if you ever travel abroad or need to do transactions in a foreign currency.
