How do first and final bills work when you change supplier? Phone and Broadband

Options
I changed my supplier last month,

Phone and home broadband from Vodafone to NowTv, which went live on 5th of June and I was charged £25 for the month in advance. However I've had a bill from Vodafone today for £32. When I've spoken to them they have said its my final bill but when I originally got the contract with Vodafone they charged me £28 me in advance in December.

So should I be getting another bill from vodafone when they've stopped supplying me and my supplier has changed over?

Depends on the provider. First bills can be more expensive but what can also happen is you get one payment and then another one later to bring it back into the month in advance thing. Discounts and special deals tend to skew it somewhat.

With regards to final bills, what usually happens is you make a payment for a full month and then if you're leaving halfway through a month you get a pro-rata payment back. So in other words if your regular bill is £20 a month and you leave on the 15th of a 30 day month you would get a refund of £10 (simply speaking).
