Plastering courses

Hi,
I know there were some recommendations about weekend courses for plastering. I tried a search, but to no avail :(.
Thanks in advance :)

  • There are lots of these popping up now and they all try and teach people how to plaster. A friend of mine went on one and now she thinks she can plaster, but she can't! The course was not cheap either and then they tried to sell her a tiling course

My advice would be to look here- plastering and have a go yourself in a small room where it will not be seen by everyone and if you make a mess of it then you can either get a pro to plaster it or go on a course and plaster over it yourself.

You will need to buy the tools anyway and a couple of bags of finishing plaster will only be a few quid ;)
  • I did a two day course with these people in Bedford http://www.plasteringworkshop.co.uk/

The course was very good and I've done a few rooms including a ceiling in my own house, a decent plasterer would probably rip my work to pieces but I'm pleased with what I've done, and the ceiling I did is better than I paid a builder to do a couple of years ago, who I just assumed would be able to plaster to a good standard.

exactly what is it that you want to do?
some patches or a full room? ceiling? do you a very old house etc...
    Get some gorm.
  • Similar to Paul. I did a 5 day course (also runs over 2 weekends) in Nuneaton http://www.buildingandplastering.co.uk/
I have done 3 big rooms since. It hasn't made me a plasterer but I am pleased with my work. I wouldn't want to charge for my work as some people do after 1 week!!!
