Painting & Decorating - Typical Costs?

Hi
We have recently moved into a new build house which is a sea of magnolia walls. We are keen to get the house decorated and want it all done in one go as much as possible.
We’ve had quotes from two painters/decorators so far, and I’ve been stunned at the difference in quotations we’ve received - one was £3400 and the other £860!. We’ve contacted a couple more, but I’m keen to get some insight on what people would think a “typical” cost is for the job.
For background - it’s a new build with perfectly flat walls and in magnolia so no pre work to be done really. House is about 1530 sq foot. Quote for the below, on the basis that they provide paint, we provide wallpaper and we will free up 2-3 rooms at a time for them to work on. All walls, no ceilings or gloss.
Kitchen/diner with small utility - paint x2 colours
Living room - paint 3 walls, wallpaper one wall
Playroom - paint 3 walls, wall paper one wall
Hall, stairs & landing with one double height wall - paint with the double height wall to be wallpapered
Downstairs toilet - paint 3 walls in waterproof finish, wall paper one
Master bedroom - paint 3 walls, wall paper One
En-suite - paint waterproof finish
Bedroom 2 - paint 3 walls, wall paper One
Bedroom 3 - paint 3 walls, wall paper One
Bedroom 4 - paint
Bathroom - paint waterproof finish
Does anyone have any experience with similar size jobs and prices paid?
Or any tradesmen who could give me a feel?
Thanks in advance
Emma

People don't value decorators because they think they can do it themselves.
We've just decorated a new, small 3 bed barn conversion from scratch, maybe 1000 square feet. It cost over £5,000 in labour.
Central London, 1700 square feet - £12,000 in labour.
You will find junkies, alcoholics and tax evaders for £80 a day and will feel very lucky if the walls don't look like they were painted with a hammer. Proper decorators will cost the same as any other respectable trade.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Thanks Doozergirl. Should have probably mentioned, I have met both guys and they seemed fine. And both have provided me with references which I have checked, and been fine so don’t think I’m in the realm of random people “having a go”0
