High final Bill

Options
I am having a bit of a dispute with EON , as I changed to Bulb in March.
EON Sent me a final bill of £413 , which I am really struggling to understand how I owe this much.
Long story short , I have been with Eon since 2000 , so for 19 years , always had a problem , I was paying £150 a month DD , until I changed , which I think is too much as its only a 3 bed Semi. They are saying I haven't been paying enough for over a year ( am i paying to light the street as well ) I have asked to send me a breakdown in Writing. I think this is a disgusting way to treat a customer of 19 years.

If I am not satisfied with their break down where do I stand if I refuse to Pay

  • Hi,

    not enough info.

You have to tell us figures, were bills estimated or based on actual readings?

Were you providing meter readings, or just happy to pay on an estimated bill, possibly under estimated?

Do the final readings on the Eon account agree with the opening ones on Bulb? Please post them here.

Can you go back 12 months and find and bill with ACTUAL readings on it - what tariff were you on ? (I hope not their standard)

I also hope you've been giving Eon regular meter readings.
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill

If you've been sending in regular meter readings and checking that your bills accurately reflect those readings then you wont have a debit at the end of your contract.
However if you don't do this and accept estimated bills and don't get them corrected then it's your fault if you have a large debit.
Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers
  • Switch says the average electric bill for a 3 bed house is £89 per month. So £150 seems a tad excessive.

What changed a year ago? I assume bills were a lot lower prior to this. So we're bills estimated, faulty meter or are next door hacking into your supply to run their cannibas farm?

Hello Paul1300 and welcome to the Forums.

Sorry for the late reply - only just spotted your post. Also sorry to lose you after 19 years.

Already some good advice on here - thanks all. Our final bill will be based on meter readings given us by your new supplier. As Robin9 says, check these match Bulb's opening readings. This will make sure you're only charged once for the same energy.

As others have asked, have previous bills been estimated? If they have and if we've now actual readings, the final bill could be a catch-up following a period where bills were less than the amount of energy being used.

Totally understand, catch-ups can come as a shock and also give a bit of a false picture as they lump more usage than would be expected into a shorter period of time. Please talk to us and we'll be happy to look at setting up a payment plan to spread the balance over a more manageable period.

Sorry again to lose you Paul1300 and thank you for being with us for such a long time.
