Yorkshire BS

Options
Hi,

I wonder if anyone can help. I made a claim years ago on Yorkshire which failed. I took out a mortgage away back in 1996 and redeemed it in 2000. The product had unemployment cover and I was a postman at that time so did not require it but told I did need to take it. Do I have a case under all the new FCA guidelines and if so whats best way to make a claim? It was declined as I thought it was an accident and sickness policy.

TIA

Paul

If you mean complaint, and you were already rejected, then you can't complain again.

If you mean you tried to claim on the policy, it sounds as if you may have tried to claim on the wrong type of policy.

All i remember is moving house and forgetting about claim after it was rejected. It was 10 years ago and maybe should have pursued further at that time. Should I claim again based on the fact it was never going to be required? YBS are about as much help as a chocolate teapot

It seems you mean complaint, rather than claim.

If you were rejected more than 6 months ago, there's nothing more you need to do.

Why does being a postman mean you did not require it? A postman is not a protected occupation and a postman can be made redundant.

    What new FCA guidelines?
It was declined as I thought it was an accident and sickness policy.

More likely it was declined as a) its an MPPI and not loan/credit card PPI and b) your complaint reason is flawed.
Should I claim again based on the fact it was never going to be required?

You cant. You only get one chance at the complaint. They can refer you back to their original decision.

They probably may not have an A&S policy. Most restricted distribution channels dont. However, its a bit late to be complaining about that (ignoring the rejection you have had already). It's an unprovable allegation with little credibility. i.e. "I want to complain as I wanted PPI but I didnt want unemployment cover part of PPI".

Hi, I did have a permanent contract and Royal Mail only ever paid off long term employees with long terms of service, mostly minimum 25 years often. So i guess its dead in the water. It was MPPI but for unemployment cover. I was told this was required to get mortgage but no way would i have required this.

It is not a protected profession and redundancies were and are possible. You may have a view on risk based on what has gone before but the fact it is that they were not protected. Royal mail have been making redundancies.

And what evidence did you supply to back up that allegation?

Not being difficult here. Just pointing out the reality. Most MPPI complaints fail. Your reasons were weak and ranged from inaccurate to unprovable. So, a rejection was always the most statistically likely option.
