You have probably triggered the anti-fraud measures on the quotations. Whilst some of the data you input allows changes without triggering it, some of the data will. Such as occupations, claims history and convictions.
Or it could be that you have just input too many changed details on a very regular basis and they now believe you could be acting as a ghost broker.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -
I have the emails saying 2k but when I click on it and the webpage loads it either will say error and ask me to submit a new quote or it comes up a new quote thousands higher.
Just a copy of the email should be enough, if the email gives you the name of an insurer, it may be worth calling them and asking if they could explain, just be honest about the million different quotes you did0 -

That's what I think I have unfortunately inadvertently done, do you have any advice or ideas on how I could potentially go about (if possible) fixing it? Or do I just wait for a few weeks/months as surely this can't be held against me for ever or can it?0 -

Either wait a month without inputting new quotes or try a local brokerI am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. I've already done that, when I phoned the woman said their prices can change depending on changes in insurance rates, changes in their own internal policies, start date of policy, and their machines check multiple databases so she couldn't specify why it had changed and agreed it seemed odd but stuck by the new quote saying there was nothing further she could do. I think potentially carrying out so many searches might have had an impact and be the cause but nobody is confirming this and saying they have no way to find out what the cause of the change has been and they just say it could be down to various reasons so it makes it difficult to remedy.0 -
Have you tried getting quotes directly from insurers not on comparison sites, such as Directline or Aviva?
You probably won't have hit their databases if you've only searched on gocompare.
Either that or wait a few weeks.0 -
Have a look at Directline - just insured my 18 year old after he passed his test and they were £350 cheaper than everyone else. (Still £1800 though!)0

A local broker will be really chuffed if you keep asking for multiple quotes on a variety of different cars whilst you whittle down your options!!!
If they deem you to be wasting their time, don't be surprised if they eventually refuse to deal with you until you have a V5 in your hand!!How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 3.24% of current retirement "pot" (as at end December 2025)0
