Youview magic

Hi,

I have a strange issue with my Youview box. It switches on by itself, no picture but sound through the TV :eek:

Please be advised the Youview+ box is linked via an Onkyo TX-SR503E surround sound to a Samsung smart TV.


Only started happening after I had an engineer repair the TV, but I believe that is probably co-incidental.

Any ideas? :money:

    Have you tried connecting just the TV and Youview together but without the Onkyo ?
    Tried a Youview box reboot ?

    SCART and HDMI cables can carry signals that switch on/off devices along with each other. If you're using SCART plugs look for settings called SCART control or similar, and switch it off.
    For HDMI, it's called CEC, but manufacturers have all different brand names for it - HDMI control, Bravia Sync, Viera Link etc, try turning these off (on STB, amp, AND TV).

    Do not think the amp could turn on the box.--I have tired box reboot.

    Amp dousn't have scart or hdmi connectivity so ignore it.

    Assuming YouView box is connected to the TV via hdmi:

    Samsung call hdmi cec Anynet+ likely this has been re(set) to ON by service tech. Switch off / disable it?

    Humax (BT YV box maker) have flaky hdmi CEC control so can switch TVs on / to the box input whenever it wakes up in standby (15 mins before any recording, and every day for 'housekeeping'. Even more frequently if the remote recording app feature is enabled!
