Our PV system has a Fronius invertor and the instruction booklet mentions cleaning the air cooling system as being the only maintenance required. After over 8 years of service I wonder if I ought to do this but there are no instructions ....anyone know what's involved?

We generally use a dry, lint free cloth to wipe over the surface of any appliance.

I see the instructions specify that is you are using the device in an extremely dusty environment, where necessary the fan, cooling elements and air intakes at the back should be cleaned using compressed air.

I also note the instructions clearly state that all persons involved in maintaining and servicing the device must have experience, be suitably qualified and read and understood the instructions.

Leave it to the professionals if I were you (save for a wipe over with a dry, lint free cloth as deemed necessary)

I've inspected it as far as I can, shining a torch through the inlet and outlet grilles, and the only debris that I could see was a few cobwebs on the outside which I brushed away. The interior all looks clean and shiny. It's strange, though, that the very detailed instruction book just says clean the filter when no filter is visible. I'm wel aware of the hazards ....the case has a label stating that there's 400 volts inside.
