    I think more likely that the company made a test transaction and that amount should be refunded.
    If Barclaycard don't change a fixed fee then how would a test
    transaction incur the same fee as the fuel payment?

    (not to mention - what are the chances of the 2.99% fee for the fuel payment coming out at *exactly* £1.50)

    That is probably because even though the fee is % percentage based, there may be a minimum amount. For example, if the fee is 2.99% but minimum of £1.5, then transactions below £50.17 will all incur a charge of £1.5 exactly. I know Lloyds do something like that. I am not sure about Barclays.
