Old Addresses Advice Needed

Bit of an awkward one with giving address history. Credit cards, credit reports etc. ask for my address history but I'm not sure best how to report this. Until a couple of years ago, I was a student so my address changed pretty much every year. I always used my home (parents') address as a 'permanent' address so all my bank details etc were registered there. But I did always register to vote at my other addresses.
Which address should I be using on applications when asked for address history? Where I was registered to vote at any given time, or what I used for all my banking etc? Thanks!
