PPI claim for deceased stepmother advice needed

I have made an PPI enquiry to bank of Scotland was for my late stepmother. They have requested a death certificate in addition to documents regarding probate if available. I have the death certificate in addition to a copy of the will which confirms I am the sole beneficiary of the estate. I am not stated as the informant or next of kin on the death certificate.
There is no issue on my part to provide this info in order for her miselling claim to be looked into. But they have asked for a declaration which I am again happy to sign as a beneficiary but it states that I am declaring I am the executor which I am not.
With that said will they still accept my declaration and allow me to act on behalf of my step mothers claim?
More importantly I am now in a serious legal battle against the executors gross mishandling of the distribution of funds of her the estate. So serious the solicitors regulation authority have flagged against the firm. I’ve been left in the dark if whether probate has actually been completed. I don’t think it is yet.
Anyways My concern is and a question, is the bank in any way required to notify this executor firm of my intentions to make a PPI claim/or complaint for my stepmother?
Thank you

The executor of the estate has the legal responsibility for acting on behalf of the estate. So, technically, the executor is the only one that can raise the complaint. For estates settled, then some providers will accept the sole beneficiary as the person able to raise the complaint as long as there is evidence to show that.
With probate in the air and the estate still to be settled (at least it sounds as if it is the case) then the executor is the one that should be doing this.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). If you aren't the executor, then you can't make a complaint if that is what they are asking for. You can phone their bereavement team, and explain what's happening and ask if the info you can provide to prove you are the sole beneficiary is sufficient.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0
