Washine Machine Issue Bosch Serie 6 timer

Have noticed a problem today with our washing machine. Bosch Serie 6. You start the programme and the timer will go down until there is about 5 minutes left and then it'll go up to 11 and then start going down again. Three or four times itll go and add time on to the cycle before finally stopping. Does anyone have any idea as to what could be causing this or is there any easy type fix for it or is it time to invest in a new machine. We arent certain as we dont look that closely but other symbols might be appearing which didnt previously

Have you checked for blockages in the pump ?

Havent checked that as yet as I just assumed its a electrical fault. I'll check that now.0

Had a look and the filter was hard to unscrew but once it was opened there was a little bit of rubbish in there including two hair pins, one of which was shattered. Just out of interest, if this was the cause (going to do another wash tomorrow) why would a build up in the filter lead to the cycle timer changing0

This build up you found in the pump might have slowed down the waste water flow being pumped out, enough that the machine had to add time.
During your test wash tomorrow, add a small amount of bleach in the drum to freshen the machine up. I know you haven't mentioned a smelly machine, but you may as well benefit from a 60c+ maintenance cycle while testing the machine0 -
Sounds like you know what you are talking about so I will do the bleach wash before the actual wash. There was no sign of a smell but it doesnt hurt to just do it.0

Mine does the same but no problems otherwise. I'd be interested to know if you find out why. I just thought mine was a liar!0

Mine's always done it as well.
I presumed it was detecting soap in the rinse water or water still being spun out during the spin cycle so added a bit more time on.
I'm not sure how sophisticated these things are.0 -

Just done a wash and it increased the time once by 3 minutes. I reckon its the sud detection thing that was mentioned but I don't know how we havent noticed it before, there isnt anything we are doing different. There was a symbol that came up which was a basket with what looked like suds coming out of it so yes it mustve been that. So I take it theres nothing to worry about apart from me typing as I'm thinking!!!0
