RAC Tesco Clubcard renewal problems

Hello

Have used Tesco clubcard points for a number of years to purchase RAC breakdown cover

This year I changed my cover from personal to vehicle cover as don't need personal

Received vehicle renewal documents , requested tesco vouchers for RAC fine , followed RAC link to renew and only brings up my last personal renewal figures a lot more expensive than the vehicle cover

Phoned RAC and was told that I could not use Tesco Voucher for vehicle cover , computer says No

I explained that no where was I told this , un-clear etc

The worst part is that I can't seem to find a way to convert the RAC voucher back to tesco points so have now lost all of the Tesco points I collected for a year

I have raised a complaint with RAC

Any help appreciated

Thanks

Aside from goodwill I don’t think there’s anything you can do. You can’t force them to sell membership to you via Tesco vouchers.

I think your complaint is misdirected. If they have been unclear about how the vouchers may be used, then Tesco are at fault, not the RAC, but I’d be surprised if they have.

    Hello
Yep I should have checked the t&c's more carefully on the Tesco site when I got vouchers ( they do say personal and not vehicle)

I trusted the RAC when I called them to change cover and at the time said that I used Tesco Club card vouchers to pay and was told not a problem

Took my eye off the ball

    Cheers Steve

The process of paying RAC with Clubcard points is clunky and complicated at both ends, what with changing points into vouchers, vouchers into deals, deals into RAC codes (while being bounced out of checkout several times while it auto-filled with the wrong amounts), while the RAC calls a voucher code a different thing to what Tesco calls a voucher code. And - surprise, surprise - while following the ‘instructions’ in my RAC letter, my quoted renewal price jumps from £270 to £288!  No wonder it’s my last year with them.
