This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning all :)

Early wake up for me and surprise surprise is flinging it down. Worried about my poor chillies now they need some consistent sun soon.

Stuck a wash on essentials only as they will drying indoors for sure today. I dont actually mind a bad weather day really it puts me on lock down so I can tackle all the jobs I need to do inside.

Last night I grabbed out a big bag of what I thought was my beef in red wine but realised this morning its the uncooked steak...this has to be a stern message to label more effectively in future. Anyway its all good I have had a recipe hunt and am going to do a barbeque beef dish in the slow cooker. Its cobbled together from a few recipes but contains everything I have in so will be chucking it all in the slow cooker for the day and hoping for the best.

So no work to do today after a really productive day yesterday so it will be a slow Saturday sort out of the house.

Hope everyone has a great day and enjoys the rain :)

Good morning, and thanks Nelski for starting off.
It's wet and gloomy here, heavy rain started early evening, seems to have continued all night.

I wasn't out yesterday during the day, there seemed to be plenty to do at home. I've started the ironing pile, and I did some proper cleaning, not just going round with a damp cloth!

Our usual wine and chat night went well, and I was home by about 10.45.

Today, what joys does today hold? I would love to say I'm being whisked away to somewhere warm and sunny, but I think I'll get no further than the supermarket. I haven't really shopped since we came back apart from bread and veg.

The caravan could do with a clean out, and I want to re arrange some of the cupboards in there, that's not urgent though.

Anyway, hope everyone has as good a day as they can

    Take care folks xx

Morning folks and thanks NELSKI. Is everybody hibernating this morning, it's quiet on here.

The forecast for us is dire for the whole of the day so, rather than sit here watching heavy rain outside and feeling as miserable as the weather,, I am going to trip off on a bus somewhere. I could stay here and do some de-cluttering I suppose but will put that off for yet another day.

Have a good day if you can folks and I hope you are getting weather where you are. ((HUGS)) as always for all the poorlies, sad, worried or lonely who need them. Take care all xx

Horrible weather, Ziggy will be getting another truncated walk today.

Yesterday was eventful, Laura had another bout of the horrible pain she had last week so she didn't go to Majorca. She insisted Brian went because it was his mother's 60th celebration and he agreed when they found out the baby was fine and she is ok. I went down and waited at the hospital with her but the upshot was that they don't know what is causing the pain. I got to see the scan of the baby though, this is turning into one of the most scanned infants possible. I then brought her back here to be pampered although I'm sorry she's missing the opportunity for some sunshine.

Off to the SM soon, I just need to think about what we are to eat this weekend.

Morning all! Exibition was good, but not as good as the one four years ago, just because there was so much to look at last time, it was a chaos of colours and fabrics and items. This time, it was quilts that were modern interpretations of the old American quilts they have there. It was still interesting though, and the old quilts had been shuffled so there were new ones to look at.It also persisted down, so we got soaked but luckily the restaurant helped with that, we gently steamed while drinking tea :)
It was also perissting down this monring when I got up but that's passed now which is lucky, because we are suposed to be going to a friends birthday bbq type event where there'll be people doing acoustic sets and playing music. I'm not sure whether to pray for rain or not. I'm not much of a goer outer these days, plus the amount of time I was on my feet yesterday has tired me out and given me some interesting creaks...

Hope you relax today Nelski, and the chillies live! Holly, hope you're better today, that's odd about the suncream, I thought that stuff was bombproof, do the childrens ones contain the same ingredients? Hope you have a great weekend Speky. TA, enjoy your impromptu :)

Hope you all have a good weekend..Wotcha Missings

It's dry after yesterdays dire weather, rain, rain and thunder....... lots of it. I love to hear the thunder though, perhaps it's because I was born during a thunder storm.
Today we are going with DD and DGD to watch DGS playing in a football tournament. It's local to us this time, but I wouldn't be surprised if the pitch is waterlogged.. We will go back to DD's for a Chinese meal later, so no tea needs cooking :j
Hope everyone has a good Saturday
    Take care all

    Morning all

Its been raining heavily this morning but meant to be bright and sunny later, I do hope so as we were planning a bbq later, I fancy some garlic and chilli prawns among other bits.

There is a wash on the go and OH is cooking breakfast he is having bacon sausage and egg etc I am having an avocado and poached egg on toast which is one of my favorites.

Did not manage to get any sandals yesterday as they had nothing in my size which I liked so the search continues I will have a look online.

Need to go shopping today hopefully OH will come if dd wont, she is off on holiday on Tuesday so probably wont need to come.

    Have good days all xx

    Morning all.

I've been out to the bank, the tip, the pharmacy and supermarket and now enjoying a quick look at the Trooping. I really like watching the soldiers marching, my old Dad used to stand and march in time with the Scots Guards when he watching it. He taught me all about the buttons on the uniforms!

DM is still in bed having a snooze before her visitor - the Saturday chap stays for about four hours as they both sit doing The Times crosswords. I'll probably get myself back out when he's here.

The forecasted heavy rain didn't arrive here and now it's muggy. I've got a little bit of work to do for my internal verification role, best crack on with it.

Snoozer - glad to read that Laura is doing OK!

    Happy Saturday to everyone.

Morning (only just still morning). I had a lovely meal out with a friend yesterday. She finds good restaurants in nice parts of town. We ate early evening so were in time for cocktail happy hour. Didn't have any more alcohol after that as I worry about falling asleep on the train home!!! I was a bit surprised when the bill came as it included 15% service charge and £2 "voluntary" charity donation. The service was very good but I wouldn't voluntarily pay 15% and I do like to donate to charity but like to chose the charity. It felt churlish to quibble but I felt a bit peeved at both the cost and the lack of choice.
    Have a nice Saturday everyone

Oh that's nice,I've not made that for years.Still think of Diva now and again, she was such a loss to this board :smileyhea
Having 5 minutes peace as DS has taken the children trampolining again- he's doing his best to try and get DGD to lose a little weight while she's here with us,she is a bit on the chunky side and starting to be teased at school :( We ration the amount of sweets etc., but normally as she only has a couple of meals here, we're fighting a losing battle as her maternal side of the family seem to exist on take away food
Enjoy your bus trip TA,hope you dont get too wet!
    Snoozer,hope Laura feels better soon

Taff/Holly, I react badly to a lot of sun creams ,as do the Grandchildren,in fact DGS is going to have an allergy screening soon to see if they can find one he can use without causing awful itching :( We are a lurgy lot anyway ;)
I bought the Pinch of nom cook book last week despite my resolution not to buy any more, but it has healthy tasty recipes I thought would suit DGD,so I'll have a look in a bit and see what we can have for tea. She enjoyed helping me make some 'cheesecake' stuffed strawberries yesterday.

DH had a good tidy round while DS and I were at football/swimming lessons :T I just need to put another wash on with DGDs school uniform and swimming things.DS1 has gone away to the other side of the Pennines for the night, helping one of his car mates to fix something on his restoration car. Have to say he's made a lot of new friends since becoming a 'petrol head ':D

Have as good a day as you can x
