alt80 said:Firstly, congratulations mate, well done, I'm made up for you and 100% deserved. 🥂 It's an absolutely amazing achievement and you've smashed it. Plenty of times you could have just said !!!!!! it like anyone ha.
Well done in terms of having got to the point of managing your monthly DD outgoings, this will set you up well for the future. You are also thinking about the things that may trip you up in the future re spending. You remind me of some of my (nicer/ family) tenants - they too always seem to put their family first, don't really chase the money.
You'll get there with work; you have the work ethic, just keep applying yourself and doing what you're doing. Perhaps seek a mentor who will help you to move to the next level in your career.
I'm not going to lie, your attitude to life has been 100% inspirational to me.
I think I have had moments in the past where I have thought I can fix it, then do it for a few months and then slip back into old routine. This time has been different, I have certainly had times where I have thought about just throwing caution to the wind but I am really glad I have stuck with it. I have learnt that actually you can have a balance of both if you commit to it and plan.
Work is deffo something in progress. I am really happy with where I am at overall, my issue is sometimes I judge myself way more harshly than others are judging me so this is something I need to get hold off. I am doing really well in my role and often am complimented on how differently I approach it to the previous person, but I am also aware there is some challenges/busy times to come so I want to now put in place coping mechanisms and schedules so I don't lose track...probably sounds crazy ahaha,
I would be lying if I said money didn't matter to me because I guess the more you have the more you can do, but over the last few years I have realised it isn't a key motivation or driving force for me. I want to make a difference at work and also realised that I want to spend that money partly on enjoying time with family, partly with my friends and also setting up a future for my daughter. I don't want her to have the same issues I had money wise so trying to set up whilst not making her want to not have a purpose or strive for a better future for is a battle I need to look at.
Family wise, in all honesty hasn't always been plain sailing and I needed to grow up at times but overall we get by and I like to think we are a good family unit.
slightly of my own topic I just want to say congratulations on the battle you are fighting you should be very proud mate you seem to have a totally different outlook to things lately.0 -

Deposit for a house is the next goal now 🏡Yeah I think over the next few weeks I am going to review a few things. I believe with my debt no longer been a priority it is going to free up a fair amount of funds to just put straight into house deposit. I was putting away aprox £200 a month whilst in debt so now that can be upped.

Hope everyone is having a great Saturday so far. I have not really done a huge amount other than watching a fair few YouTube videos haha. I have also done little bit of stock take on the food in the house before doing a little online shop to see what I could meal plan with. I have enough in the freezer and cupboards to make that last until next weekend so that should mean a pretty decent saving on food shop this week. I do need a few fresh bits like milk, bread and a few bits for work lunches but should defo be a cheap week. I also already have the petrol budget for this week taken care of.
It’s a lot quieter around the home this weekend with the girls away, it is nice to have some downtime but it is when they are away that it makes us realise just how much of a good unit we are. The little one keeps sending me daily ‘vlogs’ hahaha updating me on her days and how they have been so they are nice to see. It always amazes me how resilient kids are, she also has her own little personality.
Rest of today should be productive as I a going to finish the meal plan and then do the online shop. The slot is secured for collection tomorrow. I am also just putting together a bit of a wish list of items that I want to start saving up for. Some of these are wants and some are things I need, but I also don’t want to derail all the good work I have done budget wise but now we are debt free I want to be able to let go of the reigns a tiny bit and start enjoying things ore and not feel like I work just to service the bills. Of course I don’t want to go crazy but I also want to live a little bit, maybe holidays and days out without feeling guilty. This journey has made me a lot more conscious of having many things just for the sake of things, I would prefer to having fewer things but they are useful to me and not just sat gathering dust.
Over last few days I have been trying to think of a new goal now debt isn’t the focus and I guess that new goal is to become a better, healthier me and to make memories with the family
