Hi Dan - glad things are boring for you - that's a good thing!!.  I'm struggling with focus at the moment, so always good to see others in control and in an unconscious sort of way.  Just about to do my monthly reporting, but its all a bit flat.  Is boring an aspiration - not sure really!!
Hi Mark - yeah boring is good in one way, but sometimes I like to have things to keep me on my toes lol. Hopefully your loss of focus is short term and you always seem so in control despite sometimes needing to adjust things. I like your style of monthly reporting - Do you find this keeps you accountable?

    Hey Poppy, how are you?

I do have a tiny emergency fund and tbh I feel quite in control of finance stuff at the moment (which tbh is probably the only thing i feel in control of at the moment) I always wanted the month ahead thing but like you it kinda just never happened and now it isn't really a focus of mine. I think I need to try find a purpose for this spare money though so I don't feel like it is wasted.

haha I get the impatience and when it is gone and you can focus on the EF and pots you will be so much more at peace with the steps you are taking now to get debt free

I know things felt a little crazy for you over last few months so I really hope that has settled a bit and you are looking after yourself :)
I'm doing okay thank you, yes it's been a stressful few months and I've took a real knock to the debt busting confidence and I'm still worried about my finances but I think I've just accepted the situation is what it is. Hopefully things will change at some point.

That's good you have an emergency fund, and are feeling in control of your finances well done 😁😁 keep up the good work! Hopefully I'll be joining you on the debt free roll of honour in 3 months time 🤞🤞🤞🤞

    Poppy
Glad to read your feeling better, I know it can be difficult at times when we set ourselves goals or targets and we then feel that date slipping back but your own wellbeing is more important even if it means adding a few months onto the journey. You are doing so well and maybe the acceptance that it is an extended journey is a good thing for your mind. I can't wait to see you on that Debt Free Roll Of Honour page :D

Hi Dan - I'm not sure it keeps me really accountable in that I always seem to find a way of justifying what I want to do - I know I am lucky in that I do have enough so I have discretionary funds so I am rock solid on core must pay bills, but the rest is a bit fuzzy.  Partly I think I don't mind, as I have never run out (except once or twice cash flow hiccups got me close, and they were scary), but I do know that having been stricter would have  got me to a better place financially sooner, but I just don't have enough will to control everything.  So about 70% in control, 30% helter skelter - wheeeeeeeee
I think I saw you in an ice cream parlour
Drinking milk shakes, cold and long
Smiling and waving and looking so fine

    Evening All,

hope everyone is doing okay, nearly the weekend. I have been off work this week but not really been enjoyable as been ill all week. I had tested twice for covid and came back negative, however having still felt shocking today and been exhausted I tested again and it has come back positive so it is 10 days confined to the house for me...great. I wonder if this is my bodies weird way of telling me I need to chill out and look after myself. I have ordered a follow up test to confirm but looks like I will need to work from home next week which isn't ideal tbh but is what it is I guess. I suppose the silver lining is that I am vaccinated which as possibly lessened the impact

No idea !!!!!! I am meant to do for 10 days lol but maybe my body will get the rest I need

In other news most of xmas stuff is pretty much done, we have a few tiny bits left now and tree/decorations are all purchased. This is probably the first time we have saved up through the year and properly committed to it and it seems to have worked quite well.

Sorry to hear you're not well! I'm 50/50 on PCR tests, weird how both negative then one positive. But I've also been feeling the same but mine was a cold!  :'( Woohoo on Christmas being sorted!

Yeah tbh I have felt shocking for a few weeks now - I tested using flow test about 10 days ago purely coz I was still working coz I brushed it off as a bad cold. I have been off for a week annual leave and felt shocking yesterday i could hardly move - I just stayed in bed most of day (as bad as that sounds!) so I did another test yesterday which came back positive so I ordered PCR test, which I have took today. I have to isolate until I get that back and I informed work...which went down well. I don't feel that bad today although again I have slept all day
One thing that has come from this though is today's  behaviour from work made me realise they are the wrong type of company to be running myself into the ground for. not that I expect them to care about me but it opened up my eyes.

Just managed to catch up! Hope you're doing well despite the positive result. I had a cold two weeks back that I brushed off as that even though flow tests were negative too. Strange really... But at least you have the ten days off in an environment that you can control.

Weird how things can make us realise some things sometimes. Hope you get the rest that you need.
PS: Go easy on yourself.

Hope you get well soon mate. I'm sorry to hear about work - good staff are any company's biggest asset and can be hard to come by.

Thank you :) - I am feeling a lot better in myself today so onwards and upwards from here. I have managed to catch up on a lot of sleep which has done me the world of good to be honest I really needed it.

Work is just a little frustrating at the moment in many ways, I just feel like a lot of the commitments I was given as part of taking this job haven't been adhered to, in addition my workload is going up and up by taking on other peoples work (despite 3 of us meant to be sharing that workload) I think it's time I just focus on myself at the minute work wise which is selfish I know but my own role is suffering due to the extra work

    Hope you are doing okay

Thanks mate, on the mend now - although for first few days I was totally wiped out but I put it down to work more than anything but I have proper run myself into the ground - well no more! I have given so much and not got much back in return, unfortunately they have taken advantage of my eagerness to help.

Hope you are doing well mate
