I'm moving into a flat that I've just bought, how do I go about switching supplier?
Do I need to know who I'm currently with or can I just go to a comparison website and switch without knowing that?
This might seem like a daft question, but I've never had to deal with bills as I've always rented and bills were included in the rent.

Please read this excellent advice from the Citizens Advice Bureau https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/consumer/energy/energy-supply/moving-home-your-energy-supply/moving-home-dealing-with-your-energy-supply/0

You can go on a comparison site and switch but you also need to call the supplier you're with now and set up an account with them. They will then bill you until you switch away.0

Sometimes it's best to learn by experience.
Try it, and let us know how you get on
(then you will understand why your solicitor has informed you who currently supplies you)0 -
Take meter readings on day one and register for an account: you are then free to commence a switch. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Don't forget to give final readings of the place you are moving out from.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0
