End of tenancy - new carpets?

  • . If I was the LL and the carpet is in such a state that it required replacing, I would make a case that it wasnt a case of W&T but damage. Previous tenants tried to use the W&T argument when they broke the handle of a window. I said that it was damage and the DPS agreed and ruled for the cost of repairment.

. So if you have to pay for the damage, I don't really have too much sympathy. The cost should be fair, of course.

Just to add on from what I said before which has been built on by these 2 posters above, IF our cat had caused damage to the carpets, we would pony up and pay our fair share. The LL shouldn't have to be severely out of pocket for making a concession to us having the cat imo.

Call it a 'cute cat tax', you should have taken more action when it became an issue. But do try and find the original prices, it shouldn't be a superior carpet you're paying for.
