PPI Help please

Sorry if this has been asked before but I am mesmerised looking at pages and reading the same thing over and over again and not finding the question I want answering.

could someone advise me on where I stand if I had PPI but it was over 6 years ago and I've enquired with the bank but they said they had conducted a thorough search but were unable to find any agreements, is there anything I can do...tia

If neither you nor they have any information, there's nothing more to be done.0

Exactly! Check the document retention policies which should be available somewhere within the Privacy Notice on their website etc. This will explain when records are removed or destroyed in line with Data Protection obligations. If your account closed outside of this period, the bank will have no records to searchI work in Data Protection and spend my days dealing with CMC's. Only here trying to help!!0

Send a SAR if you want, that makes them dig through all their records and see what they have left on you
Enclose all information you can such as date of birth, any old addresses/names etc and any account numbers you have and send the request. It is free, you no longer have to pay £10Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

If a SAR is sent but any accounts were closed outside the retention periods, the answer will still be the same. If documents are not there, then there is nothing to provide.I work in Data Protection and spend my days dealing with CMC's. Only here trying to help!!0 -
Hi, Ive been on here before but am unfortunately back again. I have a copy of my mortgage agreement with North of England building society dated 22 Nov 1991. However I have contacted UKAR/NRAM (15/5/19) about a reclaim. They say they are unable to trace any account details (23/5/19) Saying they hope to carry out a further search.
They also said they may not be the mortgage lender and the account could be with Virgin Money PLC.
I did contact them nearly 2 years ago as well with a reply (12/9/17) saying they do not have any record of any credit agreement documents or numbers on their system. Also claiming they have no liability for any PPI misselling claims against Northern Rock plc.
I know they do have records as we have just paid off the mortgage in January 2018. The mortgage was paid off with an endowment so I am not clear as to which road if any I can go down to see if I am entitled to any PPI or Plevin claim.
Any help would be gratefully accepted. Thankyou

It looks as if you may have been sold PPI (if you actually had it) by a broker rather than your mortgage provider. If this is the case, the provider won't have any record of your insurance and that is why you were told this two years ago. The alternatives are that you had no PPI or that records have been deleted.0 -

Yes but the first line team or PPI team might not have access to all documents, all archives etc, it's still worth the price of a stampSam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

With the mortgage being recent, you should be able to tell and prove you are were paying MPPI if you had it. NR only sold monthly premium MPPI. Not single premium. So, did you have a separate direct debit to an insurance company for MPPi?
Did you buy the mortgage in a branch of the lender or via an estate agent or mortgage broker/adviser?I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
