Query re claiming off primark

Hi I wonder if anyone can advise me where I would stand on an issue. We bought an orange bikini for my daughter which was worn for its purpose, swimming in a pool on holiday. I washed it prior to use as she has sensitive skin. When she got out of the pool and it was still a little damp she put it on her holiday bed while getting changed then forgot it for about an hour. When she went back to it the dye had run from the bikini onto all of the bedding. The holiday home owners said they couldn’t get the stain out and now have charged me £136 to replace all of the bedding because they say it was pricey bedding... anyway I have the primark receipt and quite honestly I wouldn’t have expected dye to run from something designed to be wet. Do I stand a chance in getting primark to pay up towards the costs of this bedding? I’m thinking along the lines of the costume not really being fit for purpose when it’s colour runs. advice appreciated thanks.

No I do not believe you have a case against Primark. All dye can run in any items, leaving a sopping wet bikini on another fabric item wasnt a great idea.0

Yeah that’s a teenager for you!0

And you shouldn't be paying the full price of new bedding anyway - what you damaged was second-hand bedding.0

Trouble was it’s airbnb and I didn’t want to get bad feedback or kicked off Airbnb as we use it for all our travelling. Did think that was a bit pricey though!0

... is the correct answer. Ask them for evidence of when they bought the bedding and how much it cost. You then owe them the second hand cost of bedding of that age. (Being generous, if they paid £100 and that was 3 years ago, you owe them £50).
And exactly what bedding was "damaged"? Quilt cover and quilt? What exactly are they billing you for?0 -

There's no blame on Primark for this, chlorine in a pool does cause colours to run more than normal too. It's just one of those things, but the holiday home owner shouldn't be out of pocket, and Primark didn't do anything wrong.0 -

I suspect it’ll be in Airbnb rules about paying; tho the owners live in the Netherlands and we were in Spain .. who knows; I’ve paid anyway so too late for negotiations. I’ve emailed primark and asked if they would contribute towards any of it seeing as the labels didn’t mention anything about dye running. How often do we stick swimwear on the edge of a bed while getting changed on holiday? She shouldn’t have left it for that long .. chalking it up to experience and not going to let it shadow our trip :-) thanks for the feedback.0
