I saw itI cried, I feel pretty bad and I don't know what I can do about it.
I am shocked and I can't believe that there are people capable of such things. The director of that place should be jailed for life. How can she say that what they need is a computer?!?! Unbelievable. And that son of a B*tch that spanked them, how could he be so cruel. Mileno is such a nice boyAnd Didi always waiting for her mother...
How could they send people that are only blind or deaf to those places? They are normal
But the last images of that blind little boy that was touched by the reporter are always in my mind.
However, it looks that something is being done:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbcfour/documentaries/features/bulgarias-children.shtml
"The children in the home in Mogilino have recently been assessed by a medical team, and rehabilitation plans are being put together for each child. Specialists like speech therapists and physiotherapists are being assigned to Mogilino to work with the children. In the long term the plan is to either build purpose-built small group care homes for the disabled - or to relocate the children to better environments with Day Care Centres and potential schooling."
I feel some relief but can't stop thinking about those who died, those you lived all their lifes like that, all that still live like that, and even those Mogilino kids that have traumas and more health problems for the rest
of their lives. Really unbelievable. Humans can be very cruel.Goal: Win a car (or cash to buy one)! -- Haha goal from when I was a student. Never actually won this but got a good job instead.

You're right! Yesterday I could only think that being dead was much better than that. However, I feel sorry for those who died there. They should have never been in that situation.Goal: Win a car (or cash to buy one)! -- Haha goal from when I was a student. Never actually won this but got a good job instead.

i did not want to say that as i would feel people would judge me for it
but you are correct you hit the nail right on the head i know if i was there in there situation i know where i would be better off0 -
I watched this last night and cried, to think in this day and age children are suffering in silence. The images i saw of these children will stick in my mind.0

Hi - I went out to the Ukraine in May with a charity I am involved in with through work and was taken round institutions there. Nothing anywhere near the extreme of what was shown on this programme last night (I couldn't bear to turn the TV over) but still heartbreaking. The charty I went with works across countries in Eastern Europe to work with the governments to close down institutions and create family type homes, building a family of children around a loving couple, or working to keep children with their natural parents through a network of support. If anyone wants any details please drop me a PM and I'll let you know which charity it is.
Watching this programme last night, and having seen some state institutions earlier in the year, it feels very much along the lines of 'there but for the grace of god go I' - I'll never be the same again

i watched this aswell it really did bring tears to my eyes how can anyone be so cruel and that with the little (boy or girl) who broke there leg or foot i can not imagine how much pain they would be in it really does make my blood boil cause theres no need to treat children in this way well anybody in the way them nurses do (when the director said she hadnt failed the kids "its the staff" i was shouting your responsable for the staff so you have failed the kids) .my debt free date is finally March 20090

It was heartbreaking,it needs resolving now (which it sounds is happening)
The goverment of Bulgaria , dare i say the politicians, the director and most of the staff need replacing.
BUT my heart also goes out to the man/patient who said, what about us, who have grown up in these institutions .Will changes be made there as well ?living on the "edge"0 -
i blame the director not the staff at the end of the day 75 disable children about 3 staff its not there fault its the directors fault the staff are there to make sure there fed and clean but its not there fault the undernourished and the goverment dont help them the staff dont have time and not trained to use the gym or swimming pool if teachers and social workers were there perhaps the children would learn a bit and if the director brought more and decent food and concentratid there health and helping them rather than blame her staff perhaps something would get done i just really want it to stop its on my mind all the time
i think todor is very a good looking young lad and dee dees mum is a bi**h they both have great potentual in life so why they left there to rot0
