MBNA can locate account, but not tell if I had ppi.

I don’t have letters off them confirming ppi, I took the card out in 1996-7.

Is there anything I can do?.

Credit card PPI would have appeared on every monthly statement when your account had a balance. If you have statements showing such PPI payments then you should submit these to the bank.

Otherwise, if neither side has detailed evidence of this finance from two decades ago then any complaint has fallen at the first hurdle. Did you even have any PPI, I wonder?

Yes, I know I had it. My husbands ppi dated back to 2001 from mbna.

MBNA will have data retention periods along with all other Financial organisations. Under Data Protection regulations, companies must not keep personal data for any longer than is neccessary. It is likely that all your personal data has been destroyed or anonymised in line with their policy. They can see that you had an account, but will have no further information.
