I am looking for an automatic MPV - Must be Torque convertor box !
It must be economical (45mpg +) - which points towards a sub 1.4 Turbo
It must be easy to load a mobility scooter !
It must be reliable and comfortable (well equipped)

I have looked at Suzuki Vitaras

Any more suggestions ?

A Vitara is not an MPV (it's an SUV, which is an entirely different thing), so perhaps you need to be a bit clearer about what you are looking for.

Define easy. How big/heavy is the scooter? Will you need to drive it into the vehicle?

My in-laws were in the same position a few months ago, they ended up going for a Citroen Berlingo. It's certainly not the prettiest car in the world, and personally I'm not a fan of Citroen - but I can't deny it's wonderful at doing the job it was bought for. 2 scooters in the back wheeled up a home-made ramp, 1.6 diesel engine so it's pretty economical. Not sure if it comes with an automatic option though ? But might be worth looking at.

Treat any official MPG figures with a degree of scepticism. A small turbo petrol engine in a large car will be working hard and may be less economical than a larger engine.

That said, unless your annual mileage is high the difference in fuel costs is insignificant compared to depreciation.

    Thanks - don't want a Citroen
    Don't want a diesel
And it's not a "proper" automatic
It's at best a conversion from manual !!

My present Suzuki Baleno auto is a 1.0 turbo and averages 50mpg

Pretty much every automatic today is. Torque converters are going the way of the dodo in European vehicles due to the massive hit they have on performance and fuel economy with typical engine capacities we have today.

There are plenty of torque converters out there still
Kia, Hyundai, Suzuki just for starters

    Sorry - no it's a simple one
Which is still too heavy for one person to pick up and fit into the boot of a normal car !
