EEquifax Address check failed - help!

Hi,

I was hoping someone could help as I've been searching the internet with no results!

Yesterday my mum tried to hire a car from Exeter Airport from a company called Easirent (not the case!) We didn't read all the voucher saying that we needed to bring a passport, creditcard, driving licence and TWO forms of identification for her address (a bill etc) The company said that we could pay £3.60 for an Equifax address check so we paid for this.

The address check failed which we don't understand. My mum has lived at the address for over 32 years. She is on the electoral rule, has multiple bank accounts in her name linked to the address as well as her mobile phone. The council tax is in her name and my dads.

Has anyone else experienced this and know what to do to fix it?

Thank you!

What address does Equifax (and the other CRAs) show for your mum?

Seems a bit over the top to me. What if she had been a foreign visitor who had just flown into the airport?
You will need to check her Equifax credit report and the address shown. If it corresponds, make an official complaint to the car hire company and demand compensation for the inconvenience caused.
  • Thanks for replying. They wouldn't show us why it failed so we don't k ow and I'm not sure how to check to get it fixed!
  • It was ridiculous in the end we had to spend over £200 hiring a car from another dealer as we had to have one to get to our hotel.
    Will be making a complaint!

I don't know for what reason, but Equifax did drop me from the Electoral Roll - despite me living at the same address for two years. I got a letter from the Electoral Office, scanned it, and sent it to Equifax (and TransUnion). Only Experian shows it correctly.

Get your mom's free statutory report from Equifax and, if she doesn't show on the ER, do what I've done.
