Any plumbers in Southampton?

Hello!
We are getting a shower pump and a shower fitted and our bath + basin taps and toilet pan replaced. We have arranged for someone already but I smell a bit of a dead fish:
He gave us 2 quotes, one with him buying the materials and one with us buying the materials. He said he did not mind us buying our own stuff, so we bought it. But he is asking 100 pounds more on the 2nd quote, given after we bought the stuff. If we had let him buy the pump (shower, taps, etc), the cost of fitting would have been 600 pounds. But now that we have bought them, he wants 700 quid for the fitting. Is this quote ok? Is this common practice? We thought we would be saving a few bobs by buying them ourselves, but it turns out we would lose the benefits of getting it ourselves.
I was wondering if anyone knew a plumber in the Southampton area so we could have an order of comparison on this.
Any help is always appreciated!:p
(PS: I am not trying to rob the tradesman, I am always happy to pay for a good job done, but 700 quid for a day and a half's work seems a bit steep. Just wanted to check, tis all.)
