London Travelcard rules

But there is no "wrong direction" on a Travelcard, wrong starting station perhaps.
Yes there is a wrong direction. The ticket is basically a normal train ticket from a to b with a London travelcard thrown in. That's why it's only available into London. You can't use it to go away from London.0 -

You are wrong. Its a RETURN ticket from A to London including a travel card. So you can use the it go away from London (for your return journey).
You can make the return journey out of London without having used it to travel into London.0 -
The question is not so much "is it valid?", but more, "if it is valid, why does the journey planner not show it?"0

Travelcard tickets from my local station are a single piece of card - there is no return portion. I don't imagine that the ticket machines record the journey details or show that the first use is not at Crawley, or if this would be an issue in any case.
(* Some also include the out-boundary Zones 7, 8 & 9; where this is the casem tickets will be marked "AAA Zones 7-9")Yes there is a wrong direction. You could use it to go towards the origin printed on the ticket; you just can't [legally] use it to get back from origin to London.bubieyehyeh wrote: »You are wrong. Its a RETURN ticket from A to London including a travel card. So you can use the it go away from London (for your return journey).

Yes an out-boundary Travelcard is a single piece of card. But it consists of two elements rolled into one product; a Travelcard and return travel from origin to [the boundary of] Zone 6*.

Agreed.
no one could suggest that if you had this ticket and someone gave you a lift into london you would not be able to return home.0 -
