I’m posting to seek advice and your opinions.
There is this house down my road that I love and I want to buy it! Basically I’m looking to move in 12-18 months time to something slightly bigger and this house I've seen could be it.
The thing is it’s not for sale and we can’t find out much about it. A friend of a friend led us to believe that the owners are currently letting it and will want to sell it at some point but I don’t know the truth. I’ve been on Land registry and there is no info on the system, it says I should do a manual index search, so I’ve printed off the form and will send it for more info.
But what I want to do is write to the owners and let them know I could be interested in speaking to them about it, if they were looking to sell.
The thing is I don’t want to seem arrogant and I’m not sure what to say.
Has anybody done this before?

You don't sound arrogant to me.
If you write, just tell them exactly what you told us in your first paragraph and then simply say that if they might be interested in selling, could they give you a call on x number. I'd probably wait until a little nearer the time before you plant the seed. You don't want them sticking it on the market before you are ready, after they've had a chat about whether to sell or not.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.
