Replacement hire car fuel costs

I've recently had my electric car back at the dealership for warranty work, during this time I was given a hire car, petrol. I've incurred over £100 in fuel costs that I would not normally have. Am I untitled to claim this back in any way?

If your petrol car went in for warranty, and you were given an electric as a loaner, would you insist on giving the fuel savings to the dealer?

I completely sympathize with you. Over the last 18 months or so I've spent about that on petrol in loan cars whilst warranty work is being carried out. Most times I've had no choice to put petrol in as the cars are given to me with the fuel warning light on.

It hurts, but that's just the way it is. Some electric car drivers have been successful in getting the money refunded by the dealer if their car has been in for several weeks, but at £100 is it worth the hassle. Having said that, if you don't ask etc..

Contrary to all the 'No's, Renault have been known to refund receipted fuel costs whilst Zoes are in for warranty work. Will be dealt with by Renault CS centrally. The idea being that you're expecting electric to be the fuel, not petrol. Also, most Zoes have leased batteries, so you're paying for that whilst not using the car. I also know of an eGolf driver that had a similar experience.

Sure, there may be goodwill from the importer. But the OP's question was whether they were entitled...

And according to Renault CS, they are. Not via good will, via repeated examples of policy. No, I don't have any documentary evidence. When your Zoe is in for warranty work, you get either an EV, or your fuel costs reimbursed.

If it's warranty work then the dealer is correcting defects that should not have been there. You should not be out of pocket.

That's the argument I used and Nissan paid up.
