Ford dealers

Hi

Going to look at cars at a Ford dealership tomorrow. Any advice on dealing with salesmen? Looking at vehicles similar to a 2017 Focus petrol with 11000 mileage.

Could I walk away with a car listed for £11495 for £10400 or is that too unrealistic?

Depends upon many factors . Profit Margin in the deal , Sales Target etc.
You make an offer and can then walk away saying here is my number i will think about it .

I'd imagine a £1k+ discount (10% ish) would be a struggle ... unless you agreed to finance it through them. (You could probably then cancel/pay off the finance to avoid the interest charges).

A £1k discount is a bit too much to expect. The dealer needs to make some profit, so start at £10,450 and raise your offer slowly. Make them think you are about to walk out if they don't agree to your offer. I would walk out if you don't get car for about £11,100.

The salesman won't know the car very well, so it should be easy to find problems the salesman isn't aware of when you look it over. Don't accept any assertion that the price is set with the faults in mind, unless the faults have been declared in the advert AND they are prepared to list the faults on the contract of sale. (You won't have an recourse to the dealer if you by a car with a fault they have told you about and the repair turns out to be more than you expect.)
The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.

Right model in the right colour your paying full price.

Not so good spec and a nasty colour then who knows how many ££££'s you can knock them down. Do you have a part-ex?

Common car and common dealers makes it very easy to play dealers off of each other. And cos the car if popular you will find the same elsewhere meaning you do have the option to walk away and the dealer will know it. It might take some time to visit several dealers but you'll get the best deal.

how does someone like Motorpoint compare to the main dealers.? This type of car is bread and butter to the car supermarkets.
Most of these cars whether main dealer or not will be ex hire, not an issue as long as you are made aware of this.
