Money Going From Credit Card to EE Limited - Not Authorised

This is something I haven't come across before.

Today I saw a transaction for £108 be deducted from my credit card, supposedly by EE Limited (I do use them for mobile phones). There is another one for 28th April for £96. EE Limited is their legal name.

Phoned EE, they don't have any amounts coming into my mobile account other than the monthly direct debit I pay. They then immediately closed my request for an investigation although I asked them not to, as I don't know what these amounts are for.

I haven't ordered these transactions, I hardly ever use my card. I don't receive paper statements. Keep reducing the balance but because I don't use it, I didn't notice these transactions.

My card is with Capital One. Never had to do this before. I will phone Capital One, what do i say to them? Like I said, I have checked with EE. They don't know why these amounts are coming off my credit card, and have no record of them paying anything off. How can this money be being taken off my credit card, under the name of EE limited but EE don't know anything about it? lol and I don't either.

I will obviously ask for the card to be cancelled and another one issued.

Does sound like a fraud of some sort - or possibly human/IT error. It has happened to me, though in my case I was with a different phone company.

Simply phone CapitalOne and say these are unauthorised transactions so you are disputing them. I wouldn't mention that you do have a EE mobile, though I suppose if they ask you will have to tell them.
I will obviously ask for the card to be cancelled and another one issued.

No, I wouldn't I ask them to do that. Let them decide how they want to handle it.

Incidentally you can still have transactions go through on a cancelled card - especially if it's a CPA.

The obvious question is have you ever provided yur credit card details to EE for any reason?
Call Capital One and dispute the transactions.

I can't be certain either way, but there is a chance I paid the upfront costs of a phone with my credit card but I am not sure.

But EE could not find any trace of a payment to them in the last couple of months. So it is listed as a payment to EE Ltd, but not gone to my mobile account. Its not a transaction I ordered.

Not having statements I can't be sure how many payments there have been to EE. I don't use the card and have forgotten my online login details. I just use their app on my phone.

OK I've found out more now. There has been money going out from my credit card for some months. I can only go back to November last year. Its marked EE limited 08454125000 its been around £100 a month. Explains why my EE account has been near my limit even though I haven't spent anything on it, thought it was interest being applied.

Feel such an idiot. Supposedly this is a Tmobile customer services number for broadband. But I have never dealt with this company. Never had broadband through them or anything. Never called them. There are a number of complaints online about monies going to them. I don't know where to start to investigate this. Don't know if the phone number reference is to misdirect and its a total scam.
  • As already explained above.

Contact Capital One first and go from there

Yes. It wasn't supposed to be going anywhere. I don't use my credit card very often.

You could try asking the credit card firm for the unique reference per transaction, which I believe may be called ARN, then take that to the vendor to help their search.
  • Sounds like a fraudster posing as a legitimate company to throw you off if ever you caught wind.
