If you have no phone signal then TomTom and Garmin will also fail with live updates because ... guess what? ... they also use mobile phone infrastructure for the traffic data.
(PS: Google Maps also gives you traffic hold-ups)0 -

I think you know what i meant
............offline ie sat nav with no live traffic 0 -
Seriously, you're shooting yourself in the foot.
Standalone satnav with maps loaded = Google Maps (or similar) with maps downloaded.
Live traffic updates on satnav (mobile data signal) = Google Maps (or similar) with mobile data signal.0 -
Thanks all, looking at IPhone 6 Plus so bigger screen and I can get 3gb for £10 month with GiffGaff0

I think if you look at Halfords........you will see 6 out of 31 sat navs don't have live traffic:p0 -
100mb? I had to check and see if this thread was from 2009.
If you don't want to deal with tethering smartphones and worrying about their capabilities, which considering the 100mb thing I guess you don't, a Garmin is a much better choice.
The Garmin UI isn't as slick as Tomtom's but they are much better Satnavs in general and Livetraffic will update through the ether.0 -

Which is completely irrelevant to the point being discussed.
In reference to the old saying ... I suggest you stop digging.0 -
The 6 plus will not get the new iOS 13 in September so if you can stretch your budget go for the 6s or 6s plus as that will be better in the long run.ShandyAndy wrote: »Thanks all, looking at IPhone 6 Plus so bigger screen and I can get 3gb for £10 month with GiffGaff0
