Temporary additional driver

Does anyone have a rough idea how much it would cost to add my brother to my insurance for 5 days. so that he is covered fully comp.

We are going up to Scotland later in the year in my car and want to share the driving. My brother is 66 years old, passed his test over 40 years ago and has a current full driving licence. My car is a Seat Ibiza 1.2 FR. I have 10 years no claims on my policy.

Just looking to get a rough idea how much extra it would cost.

Thanks in advance.

If you ring your insurer now they will let you know the current cost which will give you a good idea of what to expect later in the year

My husband added an additional driver two years ago. He only asked for 2 weeks but the cover was available for a month for the same price. - £20

She did have to answer several questions, but cover started immediately.

These days I think drivers can buy independent temporary insurance, in their own name on your car, thereby not involving your insurers if they have an accident.

I don't know any names off the top of my head...but they do exist apparently (never did back in my day!!!)

Probably not the cheapest way of doing it, but does give you the protection of not being on your policy.

Just looked and one was cuvva.com (that's not a recommendation by the way!)
How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.98% of current retirement "pot" (as at end April 2025)
