They'll be used primarily for a basic share/chart monitoring program, plus internet browsing, eBay etc. no games or films etc

Q3279VWF uses an MVA panel and has better contrast ratio. The other has an IPS panel. Some people say IPS has better colour reproduction.

Q3279VWF also has a wider range of frequencies available for freesync, but you don't care about that

The cheapest one will do what you want to do perfectly fine, obviously the monitor isn't the most important.. the desktop is but don't overspend just for what you need it for.

Do you need a 32" monitor for that?

I purchased a BenQ AMVA panel from Amazon and the smearing was absolutely dreadful so it went back. There are a lot of criticism of MVA panels for these sorts of problems. There are some examples on youtube.

I would never go near one again after my experience with them. Certain colour transitions are extremely slow and cause smearing problems which I find intolerable.

LCD should of stopped with pocket calculators IMO.

If I had to choose one, the two main differences for me would be that the Q3279VWFD8 31.5" has VGA, HDMI and DVI ports. The 32" Q3279VWF QUAD HD Is confusing: listed with all 3 ports in the "Comparison" Header Title, but with only HDMI in the contents.

The other difference for me would be that the Q3279VWFD8 31.5" is sold by Amazon and the other by a seller listed as Computer Pirates UK. No knowledge of this company and it is probably OK, but I would always choose Amazon as the seller if possible.

Not much difference otherwise, but for your needs both are OTT: I would suggest this:

A 24" monitor would be better than the 32" as a desktop monitor. Anything more that Full HD is overkill for your needs. Shop around based upon that.
I think this job really needs
    a much bigger hammer.
