Adding without knowledge is complete balderdash, you literally cannot do this, it has to be listed on the credit agreement that the consumer signs; PPI on a credit card is listed on every single statement where it's paid. How do you expect the banks to get away with adding it without knowledge when the first card statement they get lists it as a charge? That would take days to uncover.

As i said, "assets do not vest in the trustee, unlike bankruptcy. None of the monies you gain would go to the insolvency service or your creditors", so the OP is free to make a claim.

If it had been debt mangement, then any recourse could have been offset against the debts outstanding, same applies to an IVA, in Bankrupcy the same would happen, but a DRO is a stand alone piece of legislation, where that practice is expressly forbidden.

You are obviously too young, or perhaps a little too trusting, but that is exactly what the banks did, it was common practice for the sales person to simple fold over the credit agreement so only the signiture box was showing, and people just signed it, never reading what was written elsewere on the form, you would cringe at that now, but 20 years ago, it was the norm, you did what the bank told you to do, no one questioned their authority.

Also the premium was often paid in a lump sum then added to the loan with interest, people were not as savvy back then as they are now, no interernet etc, you would be amazed at what the banks got away with.

Anyway i`m not here to argue these points, just as long as the OP gets the correct information.

    I remain unconvinced.

Did people really just routinely sign on the dotted line without ever reading what they agreed to?

Did those same people never check their monthly statements and wonder why they were paying for insurance they didn't want?

As to the topic of this thread, I still maintain the OP should refer to the DRO provider before making a PPI complaint..

The “DRO provider” is the insolvency service.

A quick check on the insolvency service website will confirm matters.
