Combining Postage...

I have sold small amounts of stuff on and off for years - only personal goods and nothing professionally - so not that familiar with how to do things that are a bit more out of the ordinary.

I have two BIN items that a buyer wants and has requested I combine postage... what's the best way for me to do this please?

Last week I had a buyer who bought two seperate items and asked me after she had bought and paid for them and the system kept them as two seperate transactions even when printing postage (I checked on ebay and Paypal) and it must have been because she paid for them as individual sales?

How can I ensure that the multiple items sold to one buyer come up as one postage label.... so I get proof of posting isted against all the items included in the parcel?

Just tell them to wait until both items end and you will send an invoice, if they pay before you send the invoice then ebay will retain their FVFs, so make sure they wait until you send one.

Once both items show as sold, click send invoice, adjust the postage and buyer can pay.

As soolin mentions, buyer should request combined invoice before paying as this avoids you having to pay unnecessary extra fees.

I mention in any items I list that I can combine p&p providing buyer requests a combined invoice before making payment.

I say in my listings to wait for a combined invoice before paying. If they don't, I refund the extra minus the additional fees they've cost me.

If you are printing the postage at home and they've paid separately, just add the same tracking number to the other sale. I've done it and it works fine.

I refund one lot of postage through Paypal and PP refund me some money.

Ebay fees will be paid at the full amount. You need to invoice to ensure eBay only charge you the fee on the amount you charge.

Well they bought 2 items so surely I need to pay ebay 2 fees? The postage is only 99p (Letter size)

So you refund the full 99p, ebay keep their 10p FVFs, so you are left with only 79p for postage before ebay fees*, and that doesn't cover a large letter stamp.

* assuming you were paid 2 x 99p postage so 20p in ebay FVFs.

Sell two items for £10 each with postage of £4 each to the same buyer and let them pay £28 and you pay £2.80 fees to eBay.

Sell two items for £10 each with postage of £4 combined postage to the same buyer and let them pay £24 and you pay £2.40 fees to eBay.

If they pay £28, you pay the fees on it. If you invoice for £24, you pay the fees on that. If you refund the postage eBay don't refund you the fee on it in this scenario, which leaves you 40p worse off in this case.

I didn't realise FVF included postage, it covers the price of a 2nd class stamp and I don't think I can be bothered to faf about with invoices, just more work....

FVFs are charged on all sale costs including postage. A large letter 2nd class stamp is 83p.

If you do want to refund just refund the postage overpaid less the ebay 10% FVF.
