As per a previous thread.... what happens if the electricity is turned off in a building due to a fire. The meter was undamaged but obviously it need electrity to work. How is a final bill calculated? Is a standing charge due for the period after the fire when the electricity is turned off to the building?
Thanks
Thanks

The undamaged meter will be showing the reading at the time the Elec was turned off, so there is a reading for billing.
If the supply to the building was cut by the local network company or it's current supplier, there is a good case that Standing Charges should cease0 -

The power to operate the meter is taken before the power you use is shown on the readings.
Seems as though the network provider has cut the power before it goes thro' the meter - In which case there should not be any standing charges
So far as it's reading until it was disabled is concerned, any billing will be based on the historical billing history0 -

Otherwise they will have to estimate the consumption.
Fire services usually only isolate an electrical supply, they don't disconnect the supply.
Only a disconnected supply would be a basis for terminating standing charges.0
