How to get rid of old car.
Hello I have a fairly knackered looking 2002 car that I’ve had for 14 years and which I need to get rid of. Can anyone please tell me what I need to do? Someone said I could sell it for scrap, but I can’t imagine anyone wanting to pay for it!
Also what do I need to do with the paperwork please? I assume I need to tell the dvla? Is there anyone else I need to tell.
Thanks.

Drive it to your local scrap yard, take your V5 form, they will take care of the paperwork for you and give you about £25 for your car. Catch bus home.0

Alternatively put it on ebay for sale for spares or repair.0

Google local firms that will come and collect. We had daughter's "beyond economical repair" KA (where someone had rear-ended it whilst parked) sat on our driveway for a number of weeks. A scrap firm came out with their lorry, and paid (IIRC) about £90 for it (not cash - they're not allowed to pay cash). I did siphon out as much fuel from the tank as possible though (well, this is MSE).0

As others have said eBay it, since its intact there are a lot of potential spares etc.0

We had an older than yours car with a blown engine, it was in good condition apart from that, I was going to go the scrap route via the links posted above but figured I'd put it on ebay first.
Think we got £500 for it in the end so I'd definitely say try that first.0 -
You can scrap it and donate to the proceeds charity - Giveacar.co.ukStill striving to be mortgage free before I get to a point I can't enjoy it.

Thank you everyone for your comments. I’ve decided that I will donate it to the local fire station. They use old cars for practising their training. I think it’s a bit like leaving your body to medical science!Mortgage and debt free
