I have recently bought a wireless USB adaptor, with the intention of using it to connect my Wii to the internet via my PC.
I have set up the adapter in the PC, but I cannot get the wii to connect to it.
Can anyone help.

your trying to create an adhoc network, it isnt secure so I wouldnt bother doing it it also requires a lot of configuration, bridgeing your internet connection, your pc needs to be on for the wii to get on the net etc. I cant remember if on the wii you get the option of setting the IP details manually either which needs to be done for this type of connection.
Scrap the wireless network adaptor and go buy a wireless router, it is the best way to do it and allows you to make your network secure. the wireless range may also be a problem from the wireless adaptor a routre is the best option.0 -
There are one or two models of USB adapter than can create a Wifi Infrastruture connection, not many. Post up the make you have and someone will no doubt check if it will work. It's unllikely though. I have one I use to connect a Nintendo DS occasionally.
Otherwise as Little John Says, a wireless router or access point is required.0 -
the adapter is a Pluscom Wireless 54G USB Adapter. The IP details can be configured manually on the Wii.
I have basically set up the wireless conntection on the PC, manually set the details on the Wii, but it keeps failing to find an access point.[SIZE=-1]To equate judgement and wisdom with occupation is at best . . . insulting.

Hmm, I don't have time to google at the moment, but there is a chance that is a re-badged safecom.
In the driver software you loaded on the PC, does it give you an "Infrastructure" and "ad-hoc" option?
their web site is here:

sounds like a singal problem. even with an access point here our wii is a little hit and miss as it is sat next to the chimney breast and the WAP is in the back room so if the wii is moved slightly the signal can be reduced to nothing due to the chimney walls.0

I have a wii, and you do need a wireless router to give you the access point. The wireless routers are dirt cheap these day, just make sure you get a compatible one.
This link shows all compatibale router, maybe even something in there about adapter cards.
