Hi
I'm sorry if this has already been posted somewhere... I did search but couldn't find what I'm looking for.
I've got an Apple MacBook, and I've been told I don't need any anti-virus software. I just wanted some advice on whether this is right?
I want to be able to do my online banking safely and download music etc without worrying about what else might be making its way into my computer. AVG and other free anti-virus software doesn't seem to be compatible for MACs, so if I do need additional protection if anyone could point me in the right direction I'd be grateful.
Thanks very much!

You really don't need any at the moment, unless you visit dodgy websites! But if you exchange a lot of documents with PC users, especially Office (Word, Excel) etc you could be open to macro viruses which affect their office documents, but they won't affect your Mac system.
The best free Mac OS X anti Virus, is ClamXAV available from http://www.clamxav.com/

i've ran macs in my house for over 5 years, and never even got a virus..
the only recent threats that there have been have involved downloading a file, or receiving a file via ichat, and then having to type in your admin password..
so all you have to do, is think about what you're doing, and you should be fine...
any other mac probs questions, don't hesitate to ask me0 -
and make sure you keep away from ichat0
