First time buyer, what house prices should I really be looking at?

You are always going to be thinking if only you had ex much money more you could by a better house but if you did have that much more you would be still thinking the same. So forget about the ones that you would like but can't afford and concentrate on what you can afford.
Don't worry about what they are like inside. You can change everything between the brick of the walls.
Do you really "need" 2 or 3 beds or do you just want them. If there was ample onstreet parking do you need a drive? You can't live in a drive.
If you drive to work you don't need to be in your home town?
No house is going to be perfect. You are going to have to compromise. What you need to do is to think about what you would be prepared to not have to get a house in your budget.
Yea I know you can change what's inside but you can't change the area. I don't "need" two or three beds but you can't really get anything less than two around here. I don't need a drive but if I'm honest it would put me off if it didn't. I don't want to live on a main road though.
It doesn't need to be in my home town, it's just that's all I've ever known, everyone I know is here so there's no huge desire to move away to far.0 -
Cheshire East a town called Middlewich. I'm happy to look at some surrounding areas as they are building so much here and not developing the town, just more and more houses.scholesfan88 wrote: »Cheshire's a big area, what town are you looking at?
Study the market, you'll find that either something comes up that meets your criteria or you need to compromise.0 -
Looking on Right Move theres a few good looking properties for your budget, even more if you consider Winsford.
I don't know that area of Cheshire particularly well so I'm unsure of the desirable areas.0 -

You're going to have the face the fact that you can't afford to buy where you want and what you want.
If you really want to get on the property market then you're going to have to either look at cheaper areas so you can buy the kind of property you want (2 beds with driveway etc), or, lower your requirements so you might be able to afford something smaller in your desired area.0 -
Looking in your area plus 3 miles there are a number of attractive properties under £140,000 which should be achievable on your salary plus deposit.0

How did you get to that figure?Looking in your area plus 3 miles there are a number of attractive properties under £140,000 which should be achievable on your salary plus deposit.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Bad advice. The OP would be very unlikely to get a BTL mortgage as a FTB (they want you to have owned something before), and would need around a 25% deposit anyway. BTL would NOT be a good option for the OP, nor for most people actually. Plenty of recent posts on here asking about BTL investing which should give further insights.bhughes1986 wrote: »I'd look to invest it, either in property with view to renting, or in myself through some sort of training.
See above re BTL.No I don't absolutely need it right now, but would like it in the next 24 months (I'm already 29). I'm saving everything I can in that time. So you would look at getting somewhere to rent out? What do you mean about investing in some sort of training?
I think they're saying maybe you could increase your earning power by training in something.2024 wins: *must start comping again!*0 -

Yes exactly most people wouldn't around here. But most people wouldn't.
Anyway as long as I know £130k is my current limit, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything.
Also, is the Home Reach scheme the same as Shared Ownership or are they different schemes? I've not heard of home reach before.0
